Information Gathering for Lessons Learned from COVID-19

Introduction

COVID-19 has disrupted health professional education (HPE). It has forced classrooms, the clinical learning environment, and community education to be reimagined. The pandemic has also brought to light societal challenges such as structural racism and has raised questions about the evidence behind maintaining the status quo in HPE after the pandemic passes.
To explore these questions, we ask that you provide the NASEM IHPE Forum's workshop planning committee input on your personal experiences.

Describe your experience working or observing health professional education during the pandemic, in any or all of the following areas:
  • Clinical learning
  • Community engagement
  • In-person learning (to include classroom and simulation)
  • Stress & burnout of students, faculty, clinical educators
  • Financial implications
  • Institutional policies
  • Diversity/equity and inclusiveness
  • Interprofessional education / collaborations
  • Admissions process
  • Competency-Based Education
  • General observations
