Balboa Island Benches

Balboa Island Benches to be Replaced-VOTE

1. The City of Newport Beach has recently proposed to replace all the wood benches on Balboa Island (along the boardwalks and Marine Ave). Set forth below are pictures of the various City benches being considered, four benches which are concrete and plastic (polywood), and one existing wood bench that BIPA has recently restored for a minimal cost located on Marine Avenue. Let your voices be heard as to which bench style you would prefer to see on Balboa Island.

First scroll down and look at all (five) benches, then go back and check the box next to the bench style that describes your preference: (#1) being your first choice "love it", (#2) being your second choice "it's OK" and (#3) being your third choice "No Thanks". The final poll outcome will be shared with the City of Newport Beach City Council, the Parks Beaches and Recreation Commission, and the Public Works Department. 2.

As part of the redevelopment infrastructure project, the City of Newport Beach is considering replacing the existing historical street lamps on Balboa Island, including on Marine Ave. For more information and details regarding our iconic street lamps go to www.balboaislandpa.com

Do you support retaining the existing street lamps and only replace the filaments if necessary?

3. While the City considers future infrastructure upgrades, do you believe all reasonable efforts should be taken to preserve the many historical elements on Balboa Island, such as utilizing professional preservation approaches and engineering practices?
4. How important is keeping Marine Ave quaint and historical, including keeping our designated 'Special' eucalyptus trees, wooden benches and existing street lamps?
