Community Legal Centres Australia - Survey on CLASS speeds

Dear All,

Your centre reported issues with the speed of CLASS in the recent CLASS survey. We understand how frustrating this must be and are keen to work with you to address this.

Given that not all centres are experiencing issues with the speed of CLASS, we are trying to establish common factors both within CLASS and in the IT environments you use that may be causing the issue.

To assist us with this, it would be very helpful if you and your technical team could answer the following survey questions by the 20th of January. Please contact the CLASS Help desk if you have any questions.

1. Who manages your IT? Can you provide contact details for them?

2. Is CLASS slower at some times than others? Please provide details.

3. Is CLASS slower for particular functions (eg: generating reports)? Please provide details.

4. Does CLASS freeze or drop out? If so, how often? Can you identify what makes it freeze or drop out?

5. Are any other websites slow? Please provide examples.

6. Does clearing your cache improve the speed of CLASS?

7. Are you using desktop virtualization, application virtualization, virtual desktops, or some type of terminal server? If so, which vendor and product do you use? EG Citrix XenDesktop, Dell Quest, Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, Oracle VirtualBox, VMware Horizon View, Parallels RAS, etc.

8. Can you run apps locally (i.e. not inside a remote desktop)? If so, have you tried to run CLASS locally (i.e. before you start a remote desktop, or from a local installation of Chrome? If so, does this help with speeds?

9. Do you open individual apps from the remote server, or all apps inside one remote desktop?

10. Can you provide us with contact details for the most appropriate person at your centre for this issue?
