The Compass Survey for Youth Ages 10-17 is a tool that will help you become more aware of your internal attributes--core abilities that help you thrive in school and life. When identified and understood, you can learn to use your strongest attributes to engage and grow the abilities you use less often. Your results can also help you identify adult mentors who can support your success.

This survey is part of The Compass Survey of Core Human Attributes—a collection of surveys for youth, adults, and parents—used for research in the fields of youth and adult development. Your personal information and individual results are kept private and confidential, and shared only with you. When data is used for research purposes, your personally identifying information is removed and your results are aggregated and summarized with other survey-takers.

At the completion of this survey, you will receive an email with your results. The email includes a downloadable guide to help you understand your results and further explain your core attributes and how to keep them as healthy as possible. We use your email address only to communicate with you about your survey.

You may have received a special link to take this survey from your school or an organization. We want you to understand that your individual results will always remain confidential unless you decide to share them. Reports to teachers, schools, program leaders, or researchers contain anonymous collective group data only.

Some of the questions in this survey may refer to sensitive data, like how you feel about your interactions with peers, how honest you are in certain situations, or how quickly you bounce back from disappointments.

If you are 18 and still in high school, you may take this survey. If you are 18 or older and have completed high school, you should take the Compass Survey for Adults.

If you are under the age of 13, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act requires that your parent/guardian provide consent for you to take this survey. Please consult with a parent before you begin the survey and indicate parental consent below.

If you are under the age of 10, this survey is not designed for you. Instead, please talk with your parents about your interest in the Compass surveys and suggest they complete the Compass Survey for Parents of Children Ages 5-9.
