2022 Healthy at Hopkins Champion Application

The actions of a Healthy at Hopkins Champion contribute to advancing a culture of employee health and well-being within the Johns Hopkins community. Champions support the Healthy at Hopkins strategic initiatives and act as ambassadors for the Healthy at Hopkins initiatives by offering on the ground support and bringing education, resources, and activities directly to their department or unit. Their actions support their colleagues’ personal well-being journeys of developing lifestyle habits while reflecting and learning.

As A Champion:
Your ability to communicate, promote and connect your colleagues with the Healthy at Hopkins initiatives are vital to making health and well-being a part of the work environment. Examples of ways Champions can engage their departments and units are creating a Healthy at Hopkins bulletin board, speaking about upcoming initiatives at staff meetings or hosting a web-based team event from the Department Well-Being Menu. Healthy at Hopkins will share quarterly and monthly resources to support your actions as a Champion.

How To Be An Active Champion:
  • Utilize the Healthy at Hopkins Champion Road Map every month
  • Share the monthly well-being information with your colleagues via email list, bulletin board, website, an agenda item at department meetings, or any other creative option you think of! We recommend setting aside 1-2 hours a month to participate and engage.
  • Show Healthy at Hopkins how you keep your team engaged. Use emails, photos, or videos. These entries will be shared among other Champions as well as used for recognition. There will be a submission link in the monthly road maps, Check ins and Connect follow up emails.
  • Interact with your fellow Healthy at Hopkins Champions across the Johns Hopkins community on the Healthy at Hopkins portal in the private Champion group. You’ll receive an invite from Healthy at Hopkins to join the group during the onboarding process.

I find joy in these hobbies or activities..
I really enjoy yoga, knitting, going on walks outdoors and spending time with my loved ones.

What I’m working on
I'm working on finding more of a work life balance. I'm trying to add short 2 minute breaks throughout the workday to practice deep breathing, take a walk, or practice gratitude. I find that when I can fit in a few of these short breaks I feel less anxious and exhausted at the end of the day.

I stay motivated by:
Having the support of my family and friends. Well-being is a team sport and having social connection is really important for keeping me excited, engaged and accountable to making self-care a priority in my life.
