2018 National TB Conference Abstracts

• The 2018 National TB Conference will be held in conjunction with the California TB Controllers Association (CTCA) Annual Spring Conference.
• Dates for the 2018 National Conference are Monday, May 21 – Thursday, May 24, 2018; the conference will be held in Palm Springs, California.
• Poster discussion/Reception session: The 2018 National TB Conference will kick off with an evening reception and poster discussion session on Monday, May 21st. Posters will remain up for viewing throughout the conference but this special session, devoted to exploring the work of your colleagues, will elevate the visibility of the posters and the great work being conducted throughout all levels of TB control/elimination efforts.
• High scoring abstracts will be invited to be presented during the general sessions at the 2018 National TB Conference. The abstracts that receive the highest scores will be selected for oral presentation and to the extent possible, will be harmonized for presentation during the general sessions where there is the greatest applicability to the session themes (diagnosing TBI and TB disease, surveillance and epidemiology, case management, and planning for TB elimination).

Abstract Submission
We welcome the submission of abstracts for poster presentation on all aspects of tuberculosis control, including but not limited to the themes outlined above. Relevant topics include TB epidemiology, clinical, basic sciences, nursing, social, behavioral, psychosocial, education and training, and outcomes of program initiatives. Abstracts must be submitted using this electronic submisssion form. 

Abstract Scoring Criteria
Abstracts will be reviewed and accepted on the basis of on-time receipt and quality, as determined by the Abstract Committee using the following scoring rubric: 
Notification
The submitting author will be notified about abstract acceptance by Friday, February 2, 2018 . Abstracts may be accepted as submitted, or conditionally, based on the review and score received. If accepted on a conditional basis, we will contact you with instructions for the revisions needed or to provide technical assistance to improve the submission.

Authors of the abstracts selected for oral presentation will be notified by Friday, February 23, 2018.  If accepted for oral presentation, the final PowerPoint presentation will be due no later than Friday, April 27, 2018. Abstract oral presentations will be limited to 5-7 minutes in length. Presenters of the oral abstracts will need to sign a conflict of interest disclosure form required by ACCME. The form will be provided to the authors and will be due at the time the presentation is submitted.

Abstract Submission Instructions

• Abstracts must be received by 11:59pm PT on Friday, January 19, 2018. (Abstract Deadline Extended to January 19.)
• Abstracts must be in English and submitted using the form on the next page.
• Limit words to 350 or less (title and authors not inclusive in word count)
• NTCA is committed to stigma-free language and the use of non-stigmatizing language is expected in the abstract for poster presentation. During the review process, if stigmatizing language is identified, authors will be encouraged to substitute stigmatizing language for non-stigmatizing terms.
• Please make sure to include the following in your abstract: 

1. Descriptive title, list of Authors, and affiliations
2. Background/statement of problem/objectives of the analysis
3. Methods
4. Results/key findings
5. Conclusions

Please note:  Before submission, abstracts with any CDC co-authors must be submitted for CDC clearance at least two weeks before the submission deadline.
