2017 Resident Volunteer Opportunities

The assistance of resident volunteers has been requested for hands-on training sessions at the Annual Assembly. All volunteer opportunities are on a first come-first served basis. In order to keep the recruitment process as efficient as possible, please consider the following information. Should you have any questions, please contact AAPM&R at assembly@aapmr.org before completing the survey.
 
  • Please do not commit to a time slot unless you are certain you are available.
  • Review the Skills Lab descriptions  for those that interest you.
  • If you have any questions or concerns about what is required of participating in a particular hands-on session, please contact AAPM&R for clarification before committing.
  • Skills Lab volunteers are eligible to receive $50 for each Skills Lab in which you participate. Honoraria will be mailed after the Annual Assembly.
  • Learning Center Volunteers are not be eligible to receive honoraria. 
  • Your participation is not confirmed until you hear from AAPM&R with your volunteer assignment

*The Fundamentals of Ultrasound Precourse is a hands-on learning experience and some training topics require exposure to the upper and lower extremities. Volunteers may be asked to expose areas such as the shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist/hand, hip region, thigh/knee, and calf/foot for scanning purposes. It is recommended that volunteers wear loose fitting clothing such as tank tops and athletic shorts. Please do not volunteer for this course if you are not comfortable exposing any of the body regions listed above. 
*Please note that the Ultrasound Precourse begins on Tuesday, October 10th at 8am. Please make arrangements to arrive in Denver on Monday evening if you wish to volunteer on Tuesday.


*The Spasticity Precourse is a hands-on learning experience which requires volunteers to rotate between six stations throughout the day. Each volunteer will partake in all stations and participate in all content. Volunteers should be prepared to undergo electrical stimulation and ultrasound scanning throughout the rotation. Electrical stimulation will be used to identify nerves of the upper and lower extremities such as the shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist/hand, hip region, thigh/knee, and calf/foot. Volunteers are asked to wear loose fitting clothing such as tank tops and athletic shorts. Please do not volunteer for this course if you are not comfortable exposing any of the body regions listed above or if you are not comfortable undergoing electrical stimulation. 

If you have any questions or concerns about what is required of participating in a particular Precourse, please contact AAPM&R for clarification before committing. Precourse volunteers will receive complimentary access to the precourse and all available course materials. Monetary compensation is not available for precourses. We appreciate your hard work and dedication!

It is recommended that all volunteers dress in comfortable and loose clothing such as t-shirts and shorts to allow for proper scanning and examination.
