Under Minnesota Statutes, section 124D.151, the Minnesota Department of Education is seeking applications from a district, a charter school, a group of districts, a group of charter schools, or a group of districts and charter schools to establish a voluntary pre-kindergarten program.

Please submit any questions to the Minnesota Department of Education to MDE.VPK@state.mn.us. Due to the anticipated volume of questions and to ensure everyone receives the same information, MDE will not be responding directly to individual requests. Questions will be collected every Tuesday in January and answers will be posted on an updated FAQ document each Thursday. STATE’S RIGHT TO CANCEL
This opportunity does not obligate the state to award funds and the state reserves the right to cancel the solicitation if it is considered to be in its best interest due to lack of funding, agency priorities, if the funds are misspent or misused by the program, or other considerations. All costs incurred in responding to this opportunity will be borne by the applicant.
AWARD NOTIFICATION
Funds are contingent upon evaluation and approval. Programs must not expend funds until awarded, if the application is successful. Programs will be notified of their eligibility for consideration of FY2018 funding by March 1, 2017.
Evaluating Proposals
Minnesota Department of Education will be reviewing applications based on the following:
- Receipt of application by the deadline of January 30, 2017 at 4:00pm;
- Signed Statement of Assurance from appropriate authority;
- Program demographics and proximity of Three - and Four- Star Rated Head Start and Child Care Parent Aware programs within school district attendance area; and
- Program compliance with statutory program requirements.
