Whitman Choral Cup
Beta Theta Pi has been a singing fraternity almost from its birth. It has emphasized the idea contained in the words, "a singing chapter is a good chapter." Because of this deep-seated feeling, we encourage our members to perform on their campus and within the community. The Whitman Chapter has a historical reputation for its choral abilities, so this award is named in its honor. It is presented to the best recorded performance by a chapter. Chapters typically perform a traditional Beta song.
Eligibility: All chapters and colonies are eligible to apply for this award.
Criteria: This award will be judged by three knowledgeable musicians. An entry will be judged as follows: 30% interpretation, 30% tone and balance, 30% enunciation and clarity and 10% arrangement.
Special Notes: One chapter will be recognized each year. The award is the Whitman Choral Cup, a beautiful double dragon brass trophy carrying the eight-sided Grecian shield. The Cup goes home with the winning chapter.
Questions: Questions about this award can be directed to Dan Grainger (dan.grainger@beta.org; 800-800-BETA).
