Bicycle Tour Route Evaluation Questionnaire

Project Description

The development of cross-country cycling tour routes is a difficult process, as tour organizers need to plan a series of long daily rides, each of which end at an overnight accommodation so that riders can rest and prepare for the next day's journey.

We understand the challenges of cross-country tour route planning and are building a system that will automatically generate routes based on cyclists' desired route origin, destination, and points of interest along the way. Our system will produce detailed routes outlining exactly which roads cyclists should take and which overnight accommodations or hotels they should use along their way.

In order to generate routes suited to the needs of the cyclists planning a tour, we need to understand the characteristics of a daily ride that cause a cyclist to experience great or little exertion. Expert cyclists have indicated that one of the most challenging endeavors in cycling is riding uphill, or on an incline. For example, riding on a road that has a 15% grade incline is much more challenging than riding on a road with a 5% grade incline, or a flat road of 0% grade incline.

With your help, we would like to rate the level of exertion required on various daily rides based on changes in incline and other factors.
